The Morning After - Posted on 12/11/2007
My sunrise, the morning after the big snow last week. The storm moved east overnight, clearing the skies, which allowed the sun to paint the snow with morning color and long shadows. I spent about an hour later that morning out walking with the camera - those images will be coming up in the days ahead.

Thank you to all my regular visitors/commenters, and a warm welcome to the new ones. Hope all of you are having a good week! -- Kim

Photos like this make it worth getting up and out early! I love a sunny day after a big snow. Lovely sun and shadown on the snow.

The light does 'paint' so beautifully on the snow and the tree branches too. I'm looking forward to more morning light photo's :)

Beautiful. You sure caught the colour in the snow. I am always amazed how colourful snow can be.

It's a beautiful image, Kim. You certainly have a wonderful view and you capture it well. However, I like it best in images:-) The day we moved from Ohio, in March, it was 13 degrees and when we arrived at our new home in the south it was 74 degrees. I've never looked back. Cold weather is a constant battle against the elements, but again, you've certainly caputured a lovely scene:-)

Beautiful long shadows and morning backlight. I really love this one. It makes me want to dust off my crosscountry skiis and take off over that hill (but then that would mess up this beautiful scene with ski tracks).

You always have something nice to look at Kim. I have personally been in a creative slump but this is just the kick in the butt that I needed because snow is such a perfect canvas. You used that canvas wonderfully the contrast from black saturation to blueish white and those sweet early morning yellows and oranges. I can feel the cold on the end of my nose and see my breath.

Beautiful sunrise shot, Kim. Love the way you captured the sun's rays through the trees and the long shadows really add to the overall composition. Very nice image.
